About Us

The R.E.D. project means to alleviate the dire need to uplift the community in the Red Location, the 2nd oldest township in South Africa. The project is driven by Dr M Nyoka who is a well respected surgeon and has nationally led as President of Cricket South Africa: 2008-2011 and continental sports President of Africa Cricket of Association: 2009-2011.

Since the beginning of the lockdown (end of March 2020) we’ve been serving 80 meals every Sunday. Now, we are up to 180 meals a week. This project has wholly been funded from our pockets. What was immediately apparent since we began this project is not only the hunger but also the dearth of sports facilities.

We assist children under the age of 18, with a special focus on promoting sport amongst girls. Our partnership with the local sports clubs will be the foundation of the sports project. It is in partnership with that we want to transform them from being only a soccer club, into sports clubs (with each retaining its identity) where several other sporting codes such as rugby, cricket, basketball, tennis, etc are offered.
