OUR GOAL

To form a partnership with these the CCX Callies and the Red City Football clubs, transforming them from being into sports clubs (with each retaining its identity) where several other sporting codes such as rugby, cricket, basketball, tennis, etc are offered.

  • Build new sports facilities.
  • Upgrade existing ones.
  • Mini-sport: to promote children’s participation in sport and establish programs in codes such as soccer, cricket, rugby, tennis, basketball, and indoor sports such as boxing, judo, etc.
  • Promote schools’ sport: establish links with the schools in the area to help them with their sports activities. Also, to form links with traditional sports schools such as Grey High School to provide mentoring.
  • Promote sport among girls: this has been an area of neglect in many codes in our country. This will receive specialized attention.
  • Coaches: have full-time, part-time, and volunteer coaches who will ensure that the children are provided not only with correct basics but are also supported throughout.
  • Mini academies: to ensure that the most talented children receive focused and specialized training in their sport of choice.

BENEFITS OF THE PROJECT

The benefits of sport to the overall development of a child are well documented.

  • Health benefits e.g., better physical and mental development.
  • Better social and interpersonal skills.
  • Education: children who play sport tend to do better at school.
  • Avoidance of the ills that plague youth e.g., drugs, crime, and early pregnancy.
  • The involvement of children through sport will inevitably lead to parental involvement and therefore community participation and even more importantly parental cooperation on programs involving their children.
  • Child development through sport will lead to the revitalization of their community.
  • During the construction phase of the project, there will be temporary job creation.
